Rick Ankiel Did What?
Posted in Baseball, Sports on September 7, 2007 by Ronnie ForemanHoly Cow! Ok, so Rick Ankiel of the St. Louis Cardinals completely washed out as a pitcher. Lost all sense of control on a pitch and was sent back to the minors. No many, many lifetimes later at age 27 he returns as right fielder for the Cardinals and tonight hit 2 HR’s and drove in a career high 7 runs.
What is this game coming to? If I was not a Cubs fan I would like him and give him all kinds of props. But I can’t! Dag gonnit he is hitting .358 with 9 HR’s and 29 RBI’s in only 23 games. Man can you trade him to Chicago, please!
Its really great to see him doing well.
Herbert Hoover vs. Wayne Live Game Blog
Posted in Football, Sports on September 6, 2007 by Ronnie Foreman
Its a hot, humid night here at Laidley Field as the Huskies take on defending AA state champs the Wayne Pioneers. A nice size crowd has turned out to root for their hometown team.
Hoover took the opening kickoff and was putting a nice drive together when an off target pass was intercepted around the Wayne 45 yard line. Wayne quickly capitalized on this with a Jason Thompson touchdown at the 7:11 mark in the 1st quarter. After the missed extra point the score stands 6-0, Pioneers.
The game was back and forth for the rest of the quarter until the Huskies recovered a fumbled punt on the last play taking over at the Wayne 20 to start the second quarter!
A pass interference led to a 1st down and goal at the 9 yard line. The Huskies were turned back though a Matt Rector pass was intercepted in the end zone. TOUCHBACK Wayne!
A penalty and a play later Wayne’s #30 goes 85 yards to paydirt and with the 2 point conversion the Pioneers are up 14-0 with less than 10 minutes to play in the half!
Wayne held on to the ball for most of the rest of the half before turning it over on downs around the Hoover 10 with a little over 2 minutes left. The Huskies failed to get anything going and punted the ball back to the Pioneers, who muffed the kick. Hoover recovers on Wayne’s 40!
TOUCHDOWN HUSKIES, Cody Moore with 20 seconds left, kick good! Score 14-7 Pioneers…..end of 1st half.
Wayne opened the second half receiving the ball and fumbled on the first play, recovered by Hoover ball on the Pioneers 37!
TOUCHDOWN! Huskies! 3 yard plunge by #32 Derrick Barnette! Kick no good Wayne 14 Hoover 13, 8:30 left in the 3rd.
Wayne drives the ball right own the middle of the field and after a 42 yard scamper Jason Thompson goes over from the two! 2 point conversion is no good. Score 20-13 Pioneers!
Hoover goes for it on 4th down. First Down Huskies at midfield!
Pioneers hold and return the punt to their 36 but a penalty pushes them back to the 22.
FUMBLE recovered by the Huskies at the Wayne 14! After trading punts Wayne’s punter muffed the snap and scrambled around finally missing the ball as he tried to punt. Hoover pounced on it quickly with 5:30 left in the game.
4th down from the 7 and Rector’s pass is incomplete! Pioneers take over on downs with 5:00 left. Taking the clock down to 1:50 before punting back.
Hoover takes over on their 45. SACK by the Pioneers! Huskies call their last timeout! 3rd and 13, 1:02 to play. Rector’s pass is picked off! Wayne’s ball at the 39.
No timeouts left for Hoover and the Pioneers hold on for a hard fought 20-13 win.
